We believe:
Fostering relationships with our donors and prospects is key to our success.
Gifts create an enhanced quality of life for all those we serve.
In practicing the highest ethical standards of Fund development and fiscal stewardship.
The Foundation has the obligation to review all gifts to ensure that they are in the best interests of the donor, this community, the membership, and the Foundation.
It is the donors’ right to designate their gifts how they choose, and to stay committed to carrying out their intent.
In raising funds in a cost effective manner and in presenting clear and timely financial information.
All funds, whether in endowments, unrestricted or fund specific, must be managed to earn competitive returns and safeguard the funds for the long term.

Funds Supporting Members
All funds are held in prudently managed investment accounts in accord with the Terwilliger Plaza Foundation investment policy. Whether permanently restricted (endowment funds), temporarily restricted or unrestricted, the fund balances are segregated and tracked by both the Foundation Board of Directors, the Plaza finance committee and several key staff members.
Lesta Hoel Memorial Trust Fund – Even after careful planning and saving, some of our members exhaust their personal finances and are unable to pay their living expenses. Lesta Hoel, a founding member of Terwilliger Plaza, established a trust so residents can remain here. Members and their families continue to support this important trust fund through memorial gifts and planned giving.
“This has been my home for 15 years, but I was no longer able to pay for my expenses. I am so grateful to the Lesta Hoel memorial Trust Fund for supporting me so I don’t have to move out. I am blessed that other members are generous and continue to support this program.” – Anne, Plaza member
In our entire history, no member has had to leave Terwilliger Plaza because they could not pay for the care they needed.
Terwilliger Plaza Foundation Endowment Fund – An endowment fund prepares the Foundation to meet the needs of the future. Built carefully over the years, an endowment provides stable and predictable income. This endowment was established by resident Inez Martin to be used to enhance the quality of life for all members.
Franklin W. White Living Trust – the income from these funds is used for the development and operations of assisted living quarters and their residents, along with capital improvements around the Plaza to benefit all members.
“It is our wish to provide all members, their families and the staff a place to retreat and reflect. In our caring community, each of us sometimes needs to remember a loved one, offer a prayer of thanks, and contemplate on goals or struggles. The renovated lesta Hoel Memorial Chapel and Reflection Room provides a setting of peace and serenity.” Dee Sellner, President & CEO
